No Android 4.3 for Galaxy S3 users

Samsung Galaxy owners are usually accustomed to waiting long periods of time for Android updates but sometimes the updates aren't for the better. After about two weeks of complaints, Samsung has pulled its Android 4.3 OTA update leaving users stuck on 4.1 for the foreseeable future.

Complaints ranged from phones freezing to massive battery drain, Samsung has given out a statement:

“As we are currently investigating the reported issues with Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update, the upgrading service has been temporarily suspended,” Samsung said in a statement. “We are committed to providing customers with the best possible mobile experience, and will ensure to resume the upgrading service at the earliest possibility.”

According to the Android Police blog, US network AT&T has also pulled the update from the Galaxy S4. A Galaxy S2 update was also in the works but could now face delay. There is no word on an Android 4.4 update either, it might make more sense for Samsung to begin working on that instead of leaving Galaxy users stuck on Jelly Bean.

Most Android users long for the quick updates Google provides to stock Android devices and as a result they tend to ditch the ugly Android skins company's like Samsung and HTC put on to their phones and opt for custom roms such as cyonogenmod.

Kitguru Says: Android 4.1 still offers a decent experience but the long wait for updates could cause users to get bored of their phones quickly, especially if they aren't into rooting or trying out new roms.

  1. When I done the 4.3 update last week is destroyed my S3 everything was going wrong, i checked up about 4.3 online and it said do a factory restore after doing google and samsung back ups, i done so last night and so far it seems better, many people from what i found had the same problem but after the restore many peoples phones where good and quicker, although my restore from google and samsung didnt work i am getting all my contacts and apps back slowly gives me time to clean up who i want and dont want though, but would of been nice for samsung to warn us or email us
