Rockstar has just announced that it will be releasing a remastered version of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas for Android, IOS, Windows Phone and Kindle next month. The fan favorite from the PS2 era was released back in 2004 and was the first game to feature the city, Los Santos, which the more recent GTA V revisits.
We already have GTA 3 and GTA Vice City on mobile devices, so you it's not too surprising to have a San Andreas release on the way, but it may not support all devices. So far Rockstar has only detailed OS requirements for the game- IOS 7, Android, Windows Phone and Kindle. It's a little odd that IOS 7 was singled out specifically but versions of the other OS's weren't specified, so maybe it's a hint that it will utilize the iPad Air's 64 bit architecture.
Rockstar announced that the game will “Encompass Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between,” so it'll be pretty big. Plus, the publisher also detailed some of the aestheticl improvements we can expect: “Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched colour palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet.”
The game will have an improved control scheme and gamepad support, Logitech's new iPhone controller attachment would work well. For Android users, a quick Google search will reveal that you can use a PS3 controller with your phone.
Kitguru Says: If I owned a tablet, I'd probably buy this. Are any of you guys going to kill your morning commute with it?
