Blizzard’s Warcraft movie pushed back to 2016

Universal and Legendary Pictures have confirmed that the long awaited Warcraft movie has been pushed back from late 2015 to March 2016. This is most likely to avoid clashing with Star Wars which is slated to hit theaters on the 18th of December. Considering the competition, the delay is a smart move. Warcraft might be a huge franchise in the gaming world but Star Wars remains dominant as a feature film franchise.

We just recently got a few details about the movie at Blizzcon 2013 where Director, Duncan Jones, confirmed that the movie will place emphasis on both Human and Orc sides of the story. The director wants the movie to put across the message “You can be a hero, no matter what side you're on”.

“One of the real difficult decisions we had was what part of the lore to focus on,” Jones said, explaining that the Warcraft universe has “such a huge, vast timeline,” that the goal was to get “to the root of what Warcraft is and where it came from.”

We also recently heard that Colin Farrel thinks the movie script is amazing but he didn't go in to further detail. However, he did talk a lot about the current director behind the project.

Kitguru Says: I'm not sold on how well a movie based on a game will work. Past attempts haven't been that great but we'll see, Hollywood seems keen to bring more gaming franchises to the big screen at the moment so hopefully they won't all turn out bad.
