Digital Xbox One games get price hike

Update: We received this response from Microsoft's Xbox Support twitter account: “Pricing for select digital content in some markets has changed since launch. Digital content pricing is subject to change.”

Three of Microsoft's big launch titles on the Xbox One have inexplicably had their price increased by a £5 on the official Xbox website, with no reasoning given as to why. This has the three particular titles listed at £50, which brings them in line with most of Microsoft's other launch games.

The three in question are Dead Rising 3, RYSE: Son of Rome and Forza Motorsport 5, with all other titles remaining at their previous levels. Fifa 14 is still £55 for example. However these are 0nly the digital prices for these titles, so don't feel you need to purchase them there. In-fact if you shop around you can easily find these recently price hiked titles for their original price or less.

Microsoft hasn't made any announcement as to why these price hikes have taken place. We've endeavoured to contact it to try and find out why and will update this piece if/when we hear back from it.

As VG247 points out, this move by Microsoft seems like a weird one, especially since Sony just recent dropped the pricing of some of its PS4 games. Increased game pricing this soon after launch is hardly a nice selling point.

KitGuru Says: I must admit I haven't really looked at next-gen pricing that much as I didn't plan on buying one, but FIFA 14 is £55? Seriously?
