Lets take our first decent look at the Steam Controller

When the Steam Machine beta units first shipped to testers, we saw a few first looks and unboxings of the system but now one YouTuber by the name of Trial By Game, has made some pretty decent lets play videos which document his experiences with the new Steam Controller.

His quality videos demonstrate how the controller works in titles such as Metro Last Light, Dota 2, Typing of the Dead and Surgeon Simulator 2013. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuR-0gNZLMw'] Dota 2 doesn't seem to play very well with the mapped controls. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLgOS7HDgs8′] During Metro Last Light he explains that that his shooting with the controller is already improving and the game actually feels quite nice to play on Valve's adventurous gamepad.

His recording set up includes an Aver Media capture card which is saving footage to a separate computer and also streaming to Twitch. He was also one of the lucky testers to get a high end Steam Machine featuring a Intel Core i5 and a Nvidia GTX 780.

SteamController

The Steam controller was unveiled back in September alongside the Steam OS and the Steam Machines, you could argue that the controller is actually more interesting than Valve's idea for console sized PC's, as it is certainly different to what we're used to seeing in a traditional gamepad.

KitGuru Says: The Steam Controller seems a bit too fiddly at the moment, that said, many testers so far have noted that it gets better once you get used to it. I'll still be reserving my full judgement until I can try one for myself next year, what about you guys?
