Twitter co-founder joins Disney’s Board of Directors

Twitter Co-founder, Jack Dorsey, has just taken over from Judith L. Estrin, former Chief Technology Officer of Cisco Systems, on Disney's board of Directors. Estrin had to move aside as she had already served the maximum 15 years allowed on the board.

Disney announced its latest board member at a press conference on Monday: “Jack Dorsey is a talented entrepreneur who has helped create groundbreaking new businesses in the social media and commerce spaces,” Chairman Robert A. Iger said. “The perspective he brings to Disney and its Board is extremely valuable, given our strategic priorities, which include utilising the latest technologies and platforms to reach more people and to enhance the relationship we have with our customers.”

Dorsey, who is already the CEO of Square and the Chairman of Twitter is about to get even busier as he will stand for election at the boards annual meeting in March, his job will include advising Disney on its digital strategy.

Obviously, Dorsey is more than happy to accept his new position over at Disney: “I am honoured and humbled to join the Disney Board, Disney is a timeless company, one we all grow up learning from and admiring.”

KitGuru Says: Considering this guy Co-founded one of the most successful social networks and managed to go head to head with Facebook, he's probably not a bad person to ask for advice when you want to improve your digital relationship with customers.
