Google and Audi to team up with new Android based car system

Rumour has it that Google and Audi might be teaming up to create a new Android based car information and entertainment system, rumour also has it that this system might make its début at the Consumer Electronics Show next week.

The new system has been designed to give drivers and passengers access to apps and services similar to the ones already available on Android smartphones and tablets. Google and Audi's new ‘Infotainment' system will go up against Apple's IOS offering which allows  iPhone's to connect to supported cars, bringing drivers access to maps, messages, Siri and calls. Apple already has the upper-hand in this fight as it already has support from several car manufacturers including: BMW, Volks Wagon, Ferrari, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz.

Audi already offers some customers access to Google products in newer models as the German manufacturer began rolling out Tegra powered infotainment systems last year. According to The Wall Street Journal, Google and Audi will present a timetable to offer Android based systems in new models which are due to arrive over the next four to five years. More details aren't available yet but Google seems eager to bring the Android VS IOS battle to cars now.

The launch of the new Intel Core Ultra 200S family of CPUs along with Z890 motherboards was a thorny process. KitGuru suffered along with pretty much every other review site on the planet and you may have noticed we held off from reviewing of the Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K as it is clear to us that Intel has some work to do before this platform is ready for action.

  1. Here’s the rub – I used to love Audi and had several new cars from them over the years. Now I actually don’t like the overall experience they offer – buying, service, dealership etc. So no amount of tech will make me buy an Audi in favor of a Mercedes (moved last year), even though Mercedes are moving toward IOS (Apple) which I hate – I’m a Google user.
