It's always nice when a Kickstarter game comes to fruition and is finally released, but it's especially so whey they look as interesting as this one. In an interesting blend of stealth and voyeurism – let's call it, Metal Gear Solid meets Night Trap – Republique is a game that has you helping a young woman escape a police state, by using the security cameras to keep an eye on her and your access to everything else electronic to facilitate her freedom.
[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVvTOdY5O-0′]The trailer never shows the player character, instead giving you a bird's eye view of the action, with one click access to doors, cameras and other security systems. Some of your tactics involve locking potential enemies in rooms, opening doors and shutting down body scanners.
With a title like this though, the characters were going to be important, which is why some real actors have been taken on to fill some of the main roles. Names such as: Jenniifer Hale, David Hayter, Khary Payton, Dwight Schultz and Rena Strober appear for certain major characters, many of whom have previous experience with video game voice over work.
Republique uses the Unity engine and looks great, especially for a mobile title
Repuiblique is set to launch on 19th December or iOS platforms like the iPhone, iPad and will hit the PC sometime in early 2014.
KitGuru Says: This looks like a pretty interesting game. I might have to bug an iPhone using friend of mine to see if I can have a go.
