2025’s Call of Duty rumoured to include BO2 remastered maps

As Call of Duty has gotten further along in its years, we have seen Activision bring back many of its older entries to modern platforms in various forms. The upcoming Modern Warfare III is set to include the entire suite of multiplayer maps from the classic 2009 MW2 at launch. It seems as though Black Ops will get a similar treatment in 2025 – at least according to one rumour.

As reported by industry insider ‘el_bobberto' via Twitter, the leaker stated that “This is very likely to change within the next 2 years, but COD 2025 seems to be like MWIII but for Treyarch's 2024 title, featuring BO2 multiplayer map remasters.”

Over the years we have seen many of the previous Modern Warfare entries be remastered, with 2007’s MW1 getting a full-on remaster for the PS4 / One One generation, followed by a remaster of MW2 – though only the single player portion.

The Black Ops series meanwhile has primarily been left behind with no real remasters having been made (with the closest approximation seeing a couple of the older maps being added to newer entries).

The older Black Ops entries in particular are considered to be some of the best by fans, and so to hear that Black Ops II could be returning in this way is exciting indeed – especially if it also includes the Zombies game mode. We will have to wait and see.
