Broken Xbox One? It’s free game time!

If you're one of the unfortunate few who bought an Xbox One last Friday and rushed home to play it, only to find that as soon as you put a disc in the drive it sounds like you just turned on a fan with a missing blade, then you're in luck! No not because you have to wait a week to actually get hold of a working Xbox One, but because Microsoft is giving everyone affected a free game to apologise.

All you need do to take advantage of the offer, is ring Microsoft's customer support line and the people on the other end will apologise profusely and then ask you which you'd like for free: Dead Rising 3, Zoo Tycoon, RYSE: Son of Rome, or Forza Motorsport 5. The best part about this though, is that it's a digital download, so if you don't want to send your Xbox One off for fixing/replacement right away, you can at least play whichever free game you downloaded.

We're still waiting to find some sort of consensus on how many Xbox Ones are suffering from this issue, but the numbers appear to be higher than those of Sony's Blue Light of Death, despite the numbers of negative reviews the PS4 received at launch on sites like Amazon.
