Last year Joey Hurdy, a 15 year old kid with autism, went to a science fair at the White House where he met the President and demonstrated his home made Marshmallow cannon for him. Since shooting Marshmallows around the White House, Joey has been keeping himself busy by going on to program Arduino boards and building his own solar powered computer.
It's safe to say, this kid has some serious brains, which has led to Intel taking him on board as an intern before anyone else can get to him. Joey was attending a Rome Maker Fair when Intel CEO, Brain Krzanich, spotted him and immediately offered him a place at Intel's New Devices Group, making Joey the youngest person to take part in Intel's Corporate Internship Program.
Intern Program Manager, Vaardra Martinez, said : “We hope to forge a lasting relationship with Joey and all our interns, as we support their professional development.”
Joey won't be there all of the time though, since he's just 16, he still needs to finish high school so he'll only be working for the chip maker during the summer. Just last week he attended orientation and wrote down his thoughts on his personal blog: “What a awesome place. It was so fun. I can’t wait to start making cool stuff!!”
KitGuru Says: Good things can happen from a young age if you're one of the 10 smartest kids in the world. This one has a bright future ahead of him.
