EA had a very poor reputation among Star Wars fans prior to the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Respawn's take on the Star Wars universe reinvigorated our faith in Star Wars games but now, the director behind Fallen Order and its sequel is leaving the studio.
Stig Asmussen, who led work on Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor, has “decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures”, an EA spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg this week. In the meantime, “Veteran Respawn leaders will be stepping up” to guide future work on Jedi: Survivor and any potential future projects.
Asmussen had said in an interview earlier this year that he would like to make a third game in the Star Wars Jedi series. Perhaps EA is choosing to move on from the adventures of Cal Kestis, leading to Asmussen's departure to work on other projects. This is purely speculation though – for all we know, there could very well be a third Star Wars Jedi game on the way from Respawn, in fact, there is some evidence pointing to exactly that.
We know Respawn has ideas for a third game and that Asmussen originally envisioned it as a trilogy, in keeping with the tradition set by the Star Wars films.

KitGuru Says: The Star Wars team at Respawn has done an incredible job. We can only hope that a potential third game will retain the same level of quality even with a change in director.
