Nikon announces new D4S DSLR

Nikon has unveiled its new high end DSLR camera, known as the D4S. It packs a high mexapixel sensor, multiple connectivity options for storing and transferring photos faster than ever, and some imaging features that should help it produce some of the best images a Nikon product has ever produced. The D4S's FX format sensor, is an impressive 16.2 mexapixel and when combined with the expanded ISO range (100-25600) you should be shooting cleaner, crisper and more detailed images than ever before. The viewfinder is an eye-level pentaprism, single lens design for those that take their photography seriously, but if you want to quickly review what you've snapped, there's also an eight centimetre TFT LCD screen with a 170 degree viewing angle. You can use it to scan through stills, or to play back movies, which can be recorded at 30FPS at 1080p without issue.

That's partly thanks to the Expeed 4 feature, which, as Nikon puts it: “Boosts the camera’s overall performance to a whole new level. Vastly improves image rendering and ISO performance, and allows higher frame rates when shooting movies.”

While the D4s doesn't come with built in WiFi, it is compatible with Nikon's WT5 wireless sensor and has a built in Gigabit ethernet port for fast file transfer. There's also a high speed micro-USB port.

This is all housed in a tough, durable metal shell, that's weather sealed to make it resistant to the elements.

All in, the D4s will set you back just over £5,000, depending on the retailer.

KitGuru Says: While my old Canon is still going strong, it's a bit outdated at this point so it's probably time for an upgrade. This one might be a bit out of my price range though.
