Exoprimal Season 2 adds Chun-Li crossover and more

Exoprimal is one of Capcom’s weirder franchises, with the dino mech shooter offering a fast-paced co-op environment in which players must work together to take down an onslaught of highly aggressive dinosaurs. Being a Capcom game, a number of the publisher’s other franchises have been promised to be making an appearance in the game – with the next crossover set to see Chun-Li and co. join the fight.

Making the announcement, Capcom revealed the full list of content set to arrive with the upcoming second season of Exoprimal, saying “Exoprimal Season 2 hits the streets on October 18th with Street Fighter 6 crossover content, a new map, new rigs to customize your gameplay, a new 10-player co-op final mission, and new skins and emotes!”

The new map is known as Ocean Platform and “adds a new combat zone full of precarious pathways, while new rigs for exosuits provide new ways to maneuver around the battle field and neutralize targets.”

Additionally, this 10-player co-op mission “requires that you work together with your former rivals to dreamchieve your goals and reach the end… or be flagged for mandatory retirement.”

While we already knew that Exoprimal would be crossing over with Street Fighter, the only characters previously announced were Ryu and Guile. Now, it has been confirmed that Chun-Li is also set to join the line-up.

Initially dismissed by many upon its reveal, Exoprimal has proven to be a rather fun time, with Capcom correctly supporting the title in the necessary ways to keep it fresh and exciting. It’ll be interesting to see what the Street Fighter crossover ends up looking like exactly.

While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.
