Wolfenstein: The New Order German version will be censored

Much like South Park the Stick of Truth, the upcoming Wolfenstein game will have to be censored in Germany due to its Nazi content. Bethesda has geo locked the uncensored version of The New Order to comply with German laws surrounding the sale of content that includes Nazi references.

The “International” version of the game will feature Nazi symbols and other bits of content which has been banned in Germany, therefor the sale, import and export of Wolfenstein's uncensored version would actually be illegal and punishable by up to three years in prison.

Bethesda also noted in its blog post that this censored edition will be available in Austria and via select distributors elsewhere in addition to Germany.

“Please note that the adaptation is in respect of Nazi content only, and although there are some legally required differences, the levels of violence and action remain the same as in the international version. The story and contents of this game are not intended to and should not be construed in any way to condone, glorify or endorse the beliefs, ideologies, events, actions, persons or behaviour of the Nazi regime or to trivialise its war crimes, genocide and other crimes against humanity.”

The game will require a 50GB install on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. System requirements and trailers can be found on Bethesda's blog.

KitGuru Says: Chances are that if you live in Germany then you're used to this sort of thing happening but it's still shame.
