Asus introduces 4K 28-inch gaming display for $799/£475

Asustek Computer on Monday announced the PB287Q 4K/UHD (ultra-high-definition) 28” monitor designed for prosumers and gamers. The new display will cost starting from only $799 (€576, £475) without taxes, but will deliver everything a gamer needs: UHD resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, audio in/audio out and so on.

The Asus PB2870Q supports 3840*2160 resolution with 60Hz refresh rate, it is among the first inexpensive 4K displays in the industry that offers both ultra-high-definition resolution as well as 60Hz refresh rate. Previously such combination was available only on rather expensive models. The monitor sports 330cd/m2 brightness, 100 000 000:1 contrast ratio as well as 1ms grey-to-grey response time. The display has 170°/160° viewing angles.

The PB287Q features a slim, ergonomic design with a full range of swivel, tilt, pivot and height adjustments to provide the user with an ideal viewing position. The PB287Q is also VESA mount compatible for wall or stand mounting.

KitGuru Says: Asustek’s PB287Q is the first inexpensive 4K display designed for gamers, but it will certainly not be the last one. Other makers will follow Asus in the coming quarters and by the end of the year there probably be a number of gaming displays with ultra-high-definition resolution and 60Hz refresh rate on the market.

  1. Wait, 60Hz? This is NOT what the gamer needs! 100Hz is the absolute minimum! 120Hz with lightboost is great. 60Hz simply doesn’t cut it for fast-paced games, I’m afraid.
