During the development of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Sledge-Hammer will be skipping the Wii U, Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 in an effort to create the first “Next Gen” game in the franchise. Call of Duty has usually come to all available platforms in an effort to reach as many potential customers as possible but it seems the new developer is taking a different approach this year.
Amazon still has the game up for pre-order on all platforms including the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 but the studio behind the last generation versions of the game have yet to be announced. Since this year's next gen title is running on a new engine, it's likely that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will run on one of the old engines which could lead to missing or gimped features.
“Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is being developed specifically for next gen consoles and PC,” Activision said in a press release. “This is the first iteration of Activision’s expanded three-year development cycle allowing the debut lead title from Sledgehammer Games an added year of studio development.
“With the expanded production capabilities, Sledgehammer Games is able to create an astonishing new, next generation experience, featuring an array of technical advancements from the sights and sounds that create a near photorealistic world unlike any Call of Duty before, to new performance capture and facial animation technologies that deliver lifelike characters, to a rich and immersive story that brings the fiction to life.”
KitGuru Says: This year's Call of Duty has potential to reinvigorate the franchise, seeing Kevin Spacey in the trailer got a lot of people interested and the fact that Sledge-Hammer isn't wasting any time on last generation versions of the title should give it more time to create a good game rather than a recycled clone of one of the many other Call of Duty's.

I’m not so sure about this, call of duty 3 was the last title to come out on the PS2/Xbox, about 2 years after the 360 release. So I guess they’ve cut it short a year.
Of course CODs place in the gaming world is far more significant now, and has far more persuasion power to get gamers over to the new console; I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony/Microsoft played some part in making sure that things went ahead this way. It would easily be the most popularly anticipated game on next-gen consoles thus far.
It shouldn’t even come to pc ether.. Its a insult to us pc gamers when they release a cod game game with NO MP support (Ie dedicated ranked USER CONRTOLED SERVERS) Consoles peasants can keep there crappy peer2peer garbage to them selfs..
