Crysis has always been one of the best looking games as well as one of the most demanding titles to run but what will it look like in ten years time? A resolution hack has allowed Flickr user, K-Putt, to run Crysis 3 in 8K to take some pretty good looking screenshots.
Obviously actually running the game at such a monstrous resolution is going to be a challenge for even the most powerful machines, graphics cards are only starting to catch up to 4K let alone 8K. The game is running at 8000×3333 specifically which contains 13 times more pixels than 1080p, allowing for shots like this:
Our images are scaled down quite a lot so for the full res images, you'll have to head over to K-putt's Flickr album, HERE. Like I said earlier, the amount of pixels in this form of 8K amount to 13 times 1080p but true 8K is actually 16.5 times as many pixels as the current standard desktop resolution. If you have a monitor that goes higher than 1080p then you'll be able to appreciate these shots a bit better but either way it should give you an idea of where graphics are going to be heading in the years to come.

KitGuru Says: I want to know how they actually managed to get these screenshots, I doubt even 4 Titan Blacks could handle running Crysis 3 in 8K to take these. How long do you guys think it will take before PC's can start handling 8K?

so, what’s the resolution hack?
Don’t forget when playing at higher resolutions, you can get away without anti aliasing due to the high pixel density. So that’s a few fps gained back.
