A couple of days ago, Sony came out and said that Watch Dogs would run at 1080p and 60 frames per second “in a way that only PS4 can provide”. It turns out, the company's claims aren't even close to true as the Watch Dogs developer has revealed the actual resolution and frame rate for the game on both PS4 and Xbox One.
Sony's description for the game read: “Hack everything as you make your way through Chicago's underground as you experience Watch_Dogs in a way that only PS4 can provide, at 60 Frames Per Second in 1080p.” the claim has since been removed as the game will run at 900p and 30 frames per second on the PS4 and 792p with 30 frames per second on the Xbox One.
This makes Watch Dogs the second big title to not reach the 1080p resolution target on Sony's console with the first game being Battlefield 4. This also gives credit to claims that the game didn't look as good in recent trailers compared to when the game was first revealed and shown off.

KitGuru Says: Most of our readers are PC gamers but its still interesting to check in on how the consoles are doing. I'm still really excited for the game, hopefully Ubisoft has put in the time to optimise it properly for PC hardware as many of us don't want to be dealing with day one issues.
I wouldn’t say that Sony necessarily lied. I doubt they would make a blatantly incorrect claim. I’m pretty sure there must have been some misunderstanding there, especially when Sony’s momentum relies heavily on being trusted by players.
the official PlayStation website claimed the PS4 version would run at 1080p/60fps until yesterday, when the mention was removed.
30fps on a brand new games console is absolutely shocking. I wouldn’t even consider getting a newer console now. PC gaming is the way forward!
I think I’m misunderstood. I haven’t denied that Sony provided incorrect information, I’m only observing how weird that is and how much of a mistake it is to claim false information based on objective, obvious facts. Nobody in their right mind would think they would get away with it, and there’s no way to spin it in their favour like Killzone: Shadow Fall’s 1080p multiplayer. You’re not lying when you tell someone you think is the truth, and I believe that there’s been some crossed wires here. In either case, 30fps is pretty poor.
The last game unable to provide 1080p30 as a minimum on the PS4 was also Battlefield 4, and that’s still receiving patches on ALL systems because it clearly skipped QA. With the delays of Watch Dog, I’m a bit concerned about the development of the game.
Next gen consoles….. HAHAHAHAA! Ahhh I love it π Just gets better and better π
Wow, Next gen… 30 FPS on 900p? haha Can’t stop laughing… God… I mean, you guys really thought consoles could run 1080p at 60 FPS ? yeah right.
900p @ 30fps?! Even 1080p at 60fps is looking a bit old in the tooth now. I’m running Elite:Dangerous at 2556×1440 at 60fps on a fairly middling PC and that’s an unoptimised alpha version. Ultra HD is already here and will be hitting the mainstream very soon.
More proof that consoles are for children who can’t count to 60, let alone 1080 π
AFAIK the only full 1080p 60FPS game out is Forza 5, These new console are junk. MY R9 280X is twice as powerful as either console.
So… should we mention PC Master Race?!?! Last I recall.. most of us run games well over 60 fps… π
If you can play the game then why the hell does it matter if it’s not 1080p and doesn’t run at 60fps? Doesn’t make a jack shits worth of difference. The game still plays, it still looks good and, no doubt, will still be enjoyable to play.
The darn poor machine has an APU not a gpu. And it’s based on a 1 and a half year old tech. Ofcourse that weakling doesn’t support 1080p with 60 fps of a next gen game!
The thing everyone is missing is how much Sony and M$ are charging for these under performing consoles, there is nothing next gen about them. I’d say the lasty gen consoles were much better at their time of launch than these ones. AMD must have talked up their APU big time to Sony and Microsoft, because look at real world performance it’s pitiful. I’m glad Nvidia didn’t get involved in this round of consoles, it would have tarnished their good name.
