We are probably going to get a Red Dead Redemption sequel

Red Dead Redemption was released all the way back in 2010, since then it has gone on to sell thirteen million copies which sparked rumours of a potential sequel. However, it still took Rockstar parent company, Take-Two, a few years to actually bring up the possibility.

Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, seems to believe that the “Red Dead” franchise is here to stay and that fans will eventually get the sequel they have been hoping for. Speaking at the Cowen and Company analyst conference, Zelnick responded to a question about his company's “selective” approach to releasing games:

“Consumers want better, not more”, he said. “we've launched one new successful franchise every year and I would like to keep doing that particularly because I talk about permanent franchises, but not everything is going to be a permanent franchise.”

“I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example.”

So by the sounds of it, Red Dead Redemption will make a return some day, although we don't know when exactly. That said, E3 is right around the corner, which would be a good time to make such a big announcement.

KitGuru Says: I never got around to playing Red Dead Redemption myself but I've heard plenty of good things. Would you guys like to see a sequel to Red Dead Redemption? Maybe it will come to PC the second time around.

  1. I loved Red Dead, is basically the perfect game. Looked great, insane story plots (yes, plots), very very fun. But whether it would feel the same on PC, I don’t think so. It be like trying to play any Assassins Creed game on a PC. Just doesn’t feel right

  2. I don’t get that statement at all. If you couldn’t see what machine was running your game and was just handed an xbox pad, how can you tell, why would it not feel right? If you can only use a keyboard and mouse you wouldn’t be able to play it on any system. People seem to think you cant use a pad on pc when in fact it uses the xbox pad officially with just about every game coming out.

Well i’ve played the assassins creed on xbox and pc (and i have a good pc for running assassins creed) and it did feel better on xbox (yes you can use the pad on the pc but i didn’t had the wireless piece to work on pc until now). Some games actually feels better on xbox others on pc. It happens (it also have to do to some ports as well). I’m starting to play RDR and RDR:Undead and they feel better than GTA, but i’ll probably finish Bulletstorm on xbox (and final fantasy 7 on pc) first. That type of games take too much time and for now I’m playing and watching Dota2 as the TI4 is starting soon ^^

  4. Yeah, it’s balanced just right and never seems to get boring. Excellent.
