League of Legends Worlds 2023 was the most watched esports event ever

The League of Legends Worlds 2023 finals broke the record for esports event viewership with over 6.4 million concurrent viewers, without accounting for Chinese viewers. This is a significant accomplishment for one of the most prestigious esports games.

During Worlds 2023, the Korean T1 team showcased their skills and won their fourth title against the Chinese Weibo Gaming team. According to Esports Charts, the finals were broadcast worldwide, registering a peak of 6,402,760 concurrent viewers distributed across the various streams showing the matches. This is an impressive number for a 14-year-old game.

LoL Worlds 2023 instantly smashed the record for esports viewership. With over a decade of League of Legends esports history, the game has built up an impressive legacy. Faker, the leader of T1 and undisputed all-time greatest in the game, has been around since the beginning, making both new and old fans tune in to watch if he could secure his fourth title.

Esports Charts data shows Worlds 2023 broke attendance records in its first game. As the tournament progressed, the number of spectators watching increased, leading to the record. The Worlds 2023 Final was watched by at least 2 million more people than the T1 vs JDG semifinal, which had slightly over 4 million views. All these figures exclude China, where League of Legends is immensely popular.
