Diamond Multimedia is a legendary name on the market of graphics adapters, which was consigned to oblivion in the recent years. The company was originally founded back in the eighties and was a major supplier of graphics adapters in the 1980s and the 1990s. In 1999 the company merged with S3 Graphics, which decided to become a supplier of graphics cards like 3dfx (which acquired STB Systems that year as well) and ATI Technologies. Unfortunately, S3’s Savage 2000 graphics processing unit was a failure, which nearly ruined both companies and drove the Diamond brand out of the market.

Diamond Multimedia re-emerged in 2003 when the trademark was acquired by Best Data. While the company sells a broad range of AMD Radeon graphics cards, the Diamond brand is not really popular these days, partly because those graphics cards are mostly based on reference designs.

In a bid to revitalize the Diamond brand, the company decided to run a giveaway competition. This should attract a lot of attention to Diamond Multimedia and may translate into improved sales.
