You can now control Google Glass with your mind

One of the drawbacks to Google Glass was having to talk to it, voice commands are often seen as a gimmick rather than a useful feature. Luckily, an app has been released that will allow Glass owners to issue commands through brain waves instead.

The app is called MindRDR, it requires another piece of head mounted gear, the Neurosky EEG biosensor, which will link up with Google Glass. The biosensor picks up on brainwaves that correlate to your ability to focus, the app then converts your brainwaves in to a meter reading that gets superimposed on the camera view in Google Glass. The more you ‘focus' the higher the meter reading will be and eventually, this will force the camera to take a picture, if you focus some more, then the picture will be posted to Twitter.

The technology is still in the early stages but its an early look at how smart glasses could be improved for the future. TechCrunch reports that Google Glass had to be cooled down under an air conditioner after use so its not quite up to scratch just yet but its good enough for demonstration purposes.

The Neurosky biosensor retails for £71 while Google Glass sells for £1000. Having to wear an extra piece of headgear is another downside but we could see the biosensor shrink down in the years to come, which could lead to them being included inside wearables like Google Glass.

KitGuru Says: This is the sort of technology that smart glasses need in order to be successful. Nobody wants to talk to their device unless they absolutely have to, being able to control headgear like this with brainwaves could end up being very popular- as long as there are no side effects. What do you guys think of this? Would you prefer to control your device with brainwaves rather than voice commands?

The launch of the new Intel Core Ultra 200S family of CPUs along with Z890 motherboards was a thorny process. KitGuru suffered along with pretty much every other review site on the planet and you may have noticed we held off from reviewing of the Core Ultra 9 285K, Core Ultra 7 265K and Core Ultra 5 245K as it is clear to us that Intel has some work to do before this platform is ready for action.
