Earlier in 2023, Square Enix announced that their Marvel’s Avengers game would be delisted from digital stores after just two and a half years on the market, cementing the fact that the live-service title failed to capture fans in the way that the publisher was hoping. Just over 3 years on from its launch, Marvel’s Avengers is now no longer available to purchase – ending its life cycle with a less-than-stellar legacy.
The 30th of September marked the final day that Marvel’s Avengers could be bought digitally, and as we are now in the month of October, the AAA Square Enix-published title can no longer be purchased on any digital storefronts across PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
News of its delisting was confirmed all the way back in January and so those who were planning to pick it up had plenty of time to do so. Still, the fact that a game as big as Avengers can no longer be bought just a few years after its launch remains somewhat surprising.
If you already own the game, you will still be able to access pretty much all of the content at least, including both solo and multiplayer; limited-time events; and operations. Customer support however has now officially ceased operation.
Speaking on its end-of-life, the Marvel’s Avengers dev team said “Thank you to all our players for joining us on these adventures and letting us tell our stories with Kamala, Bruce, Tony, Steve, Nat, Thor, Clint, Kate, T'Challa, Pete, Jane, and Bucky. For anyone who hasn’t joined us yet, we hope you jump on this final chance to join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes alongside your friends. Remember: good isn’t a thing you are; it’s a thing you do.”
