Phil Fish has once again proven that he should probably stay away from social media as the developer went on another Twitter rant, which then led to him deleting his account … again. This time Phil was mad at the YouTube community and stated that everyone who has ever claimed ad revenue on a video featuring FEZ gameplay owes him money.
The FEZ developer started off his rant by saying “YouTubers should have to pay out a huge portion of their revenue to the developers from which they steal all their content. Ad revenue should be shared with developers. This should be built into YouTube. Anything else is basically piracy.”
So apparently, all let's player's and reviewers are pirates. However, if Phil really wanted to, he could have just used YouTube's content ID system to claim every video featuring his game, it wouldn't have been good for PR but then again, neither are his consistent Twitter rants.
The meltdown isn't quite over though, before deleting his Twitter account, the developer had a few more things to say: “If you generate money from putting my content on your channel, you owe me money. Simple as that. If you buy a movie, are you then allowed to stream the entirety of it publicly for people to watch for free? No, because that's illegal.”
“Systems are in place to prevent that. But buy Fez, put ALL of it on YouTube, turn on ads, make money from it and that's TOTALLY FINE. And the developer should in NO WAY be compensated for their work being freely distributed to the world. Right. Makes sense.”
After these tweets, Fish protected his Twitter account but then went on to delete it anyway. The last time this happened, Fish took all of the money left from FEZ and canceled FEZ II, which was in order to “get out of games”.

He sounds like a complete and total bellend…..
An attitude like his, is enough to make me want to return the copy of Fez that I have, he has to realise that without youtubers and the like, he wouldn’t have gotten even half the exposure that he originally got. Personally I don’t much enjoy letsplay videos, but his accusations are moronic at best and he should think more before he opens his mouth in future.
He is forgetting that streaming a film is illegal because people are meant to WATCH a film, people streaming/ recording games is not the same because they are meant to be played they are an interactive experience.
Companies that are unhappy with people spoiling the story should do rules like Rockstar did. For example, you would be able to show people what the game is about and gain money from that video, but you won’t spoil the whole experience.

What a complete and utter mong, how can a guy with the intellect to write a decent game be such a retard? just another wannabe Steve Jobs that wants 100% control of product which always hurts the consumer.
There’s a few things I wonder about Phil Fish in this article.
1: Why has he not gone to therapy yet?
2: Why was he not aware of Content ID if he is so passionate about this issue?
3: How does he not see how this benefits game developers. Its basically free advertising for your game. You will never see an ad for a PC game like DayZ or Rust on TV so YouTube and Twitch are indies best hopes for promotion. For which the developer doesn’t pay 1 cent.. They might send the content creator a key/review copy but that’s usually the biggest expense. I’m glad he’s off Twitter never mind not making games. People like him need help & should stay out of the public eye as much as possible. Fez was a decent game but I won’t miss it as a franchise. And absolutely no one will miss Phil Fish.
