Riot has announced a new temporary system that's being trialled on each server, that will see it banning all toxic players on League of Legends, either temporarily over a two week period, or permanently if they've been given a warning before.
Part of this is to do with a new “machine learning,” approach, according to Lead Designer of Social Systems at Riot, Jeffery Lin. He explained over on Reddit how the new automated system, combined with the traditional player support reviews, would highlight those players that have continually shown toxic behaviour online and that they would be banned.
This is counter to Riot's usual methods of reform, but it's noticed that for a number of players these measures don't make a difference, they repeatedly throw out homophobic and/or racist language, along with death threats and Riot simply doesn't want these people playing its game.

Those that complain about bans being unfair, will have their chat logs revealed to the world which while naming and shaming, does also make Riot far more transparent and should end calls that it is unfairly punishing some of the nastiest players.
This system won't be rolled out entirely in one go, as Riot is testing it server by server to test effectiveness and to make sure not too many false positives appear. In the end though, if it works, Riot may roll out the system worldwide, permanently.
Lin also said that over the next few months, it will be looking into players that leave early or repeatedly go AFK. While some players have expressed concern over this saying that they get dropped from the servers semi-regularly and it has nothing to do with them, others are glad to see Riot continuing to tidy up its game.

KitGuru Says: Having a zero tolerance policy on nasty language and behaviour is a bit of a dangerous system to implement as it doesn't allow for a lot of nuance, but perhaps that's what's needed to clear out some of the worst of the worst players. What do you guys think?

2nd time I post to an article with this topic… It’s not fair and they will only get complains. Some people play LOL to blow off steam and even if they are good players they might already have been warned once. now what happens if they curse? they get permabanned? I am in this situation, and I can say I spent some money in the shop – I don’t like the idea of getting permabanned after this. players will rage. they prefer to implement some bullshit system instead of balancing the brackets and implementing other filters that won’t get players sick of riot.this is bad business.
Rage all you like, but you dont have to broadcast it to a team or say anything nasty about anyone online while doing it, blow off your steam behind your computer screen, The basis of it is don’t bring others into your emotional unfair ragey bullshit,
While, if you had read the reddit thread noted on the page, they do mention the appeal of unfair banning, though if the decision is a solid one, they may post the chat logs for you and the public to decide whether what you said was appropriate for a situation.
I personally have been wondering when they’d roll out a system like this, as the tribunal is quite slow, and there’s very little in the ways you can deal with trolls/AFK’ers/leavers and the like who, may appear quite fine in the chat, but are in reality just as bad as those who flame, by ruining the game for others.
The solution is simple, grow up. You have to realise that while you are sat behind a computer screen you are still connected to other real life humans. You wouldn’t behave in such a manner in a workplace or in a sporting event. Just because I have spent some money in a shop, doesn’t give me the right to go and abuse other customers. If you want to blow off steam, build a padded cell and keep it to yourself. I think this is a great move. I stopped playing because it became tiring playing alongside 2 kids arguing and insulting each other. I might consider joining again if this system changes the behaviour of the players.
I’m a victim. I get called an afker for going into a defensive stance in a lane. Over the course of years the complaints of immature rage god complex toxic players have led from suspension to suspension as a fair amount of players in the tribunal simply spam guilty to get through their daily allotment of Web browsing ip. My soul purpose In lol is to incite players into committing bannable offenses. Pretty darn successful at avoiding retribution thus far. Who knows how many more will duplicate this path of anguish.
