Overclockers taking pre-orders for Corsair DDR4 RAM

Overclockers UK is now taking pre-orders for Corsair Vengeance and Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 memory kits in preparation for Intel's upcoming X99 chipset. In addition, the store is already offering a range of Crucial Ballistix DDR4 modules.

Corsair Vengeance RAM starts off  at £239.99 for a 16GB 2666 MHz kit and goes as high as £299.99 for a 16GB 2800 MHz kit. The Corsair Dominator Platinum kits are a little more expensive, starting at £319.99 for a 2666 MHz 16GB kit and capping out at £399.95 for a 2800 MHz 16GB kit.

According to Andrew Gibson, OCUK's purchasing manager, we will eventually see ultra-low voltage DDR4 modules, which will bring power saving benefits over DDR3. In addition, some X99 motherboards will come with support for up to 128GB of memory.

16GB single dimms will eventually come to consumers although to start off with we are going to see 8GB and 4GB modules. We'll see a boost in memory speeds too, official kits from the likes of Corsair and Crucial could reach speeds as high as 4266 MHz, although to start off with we are going to see kits come in 1600 MHz, 1866MHz, 2133MHz, 2400MHz, 2666MHz, 3200MHz and 4000MHz speeds.

Yeah… Will wait for at least 2 years so prices drop in the ‘RAM’ Market as that’s a little expensive, but what do you expect when DDR4 is pretty much new to the field.

  2. 128GB of RAM is soon (relatively speaking) going to be in the realm of possibility for a consumer. That’s incredible!
