Overclockers UK has announced today that it will begin selling two new premium Audio-Technica gaming headsets, the ATH-AG1 which comes in a closed headphone design and the ATH-ADG1 which comes in an open back design.
Audio Technica is drawing on 50 years worth of audio expertise to create these two headsets. Both the ATH-AG1 and the ATH-ADG1 utilise 53mm drivers with Bobbin-wound CCAW voice coils, which is the first of its kind in a gaming headset.
Both headsets come with a 1 meter fixed cord and a 2 meter extension cable if you need the extra length. In addition, A detachable USB DAC with built-in headphone amplifier and 3.5 mm connector is also included.
These two premium headsets also use a “3D wing system” which will selectively distribute pressure and decrease the overall perceived weight on your head.
Both headsets are available for pre-order. The ATH-AG1 closed back headset comes in a little cheaper at £239.99 while the ATH-ADG1 open back headset will cost you £264.95. You can learn more about both headsets on the OCUK announcement page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Are any of you guys in the market for a high end headset? These could be worth looking in to.
I could buy a pretty powerful graphics card for less than the cost of these headsets… or an i7 4790k… or a high capacity SSD… or a whole bunch of other stuff that would provide significantly more bang for my buck. Would not buy.
you dont appreciate good audio then
On the contrary, I do appreciate good audio. I’d love to own a pair of these, but sadly that’s not enough to make them a good investment.
If you are a professional sound engineer or pro-gamer with corporate sponsorships to pay for your gear, then I’m sure these will be great. If not… they’re just not worth the money.
I share your viewpoint. It is about what is worth to you alone in the use of such a thing. As stated, faster cpu or faster SSD is more value than better sound. It does NOT mean you have lousy sound now, just that it can be improved. We all know that.
Let’s look at it like this, yes the headset is higher price than you’ll normally pay for a gaming headset but audio is a one time investment. Graphics become out-dated but I can guarantee in 5 years time that headset will be as great a quality as ever, therefore bang for buck, Therefore, would buy
