Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile nears 50 million pre-registrations

Call of Duty: Mobile has been a huge success for the first-person shooter franchise, with the free-to-play game having amassed more than 500 million downloads since its release back in 2019. That said, Activision is set to launch its successor next year, with Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile said to be much closer to its console counterpart thanks to the use of Infinity Ward’s updated IW engine. Despite not having an official release date, COD: Warzone Mobile has already seen almost 50 million pre-registrations.

Taking to their blog to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary, Activision released a lengthy retrospective going into the history of the Call of Duty franchise and its many releases. In looking to the future, the team revealed that 2024’s Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is already off to an excellent start, despite being months away from its official launch, saying:

“In Spring 2024, prepare to join over 45 million fans who have already pre-registered Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile and prepare your squad to drop into two painstakingly-recreated Battle Royale maps – Verdansk and Rebirth Island – along with shared progression and Battle Pass integration with Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone, and an authentic multiplayer experience including maps like Shipment and Shoot House to complement Battle Royale.”

While the original Call of Duty: Mobile certainly found its own massive audience, the fact that Warzone Mobile will offer cross-progression with its console counterpart means that when it does finally release in Spring of next year, that 45 million figure will likely shoot right up rather quickly. It will be interesting to see how long the game takes to surpass the original COD: Mobile.
