Red Dead Redemption Remastered gets 60FPS update on PlayStation

When Red Dead Redemption Remastered dropped for PlayStation and Switch consoles, Rockstar caught some flack for the lack of 60FPS mode, particularly when the game runs on PS5. With the latest update, this may have been fixed.

As spotted by Push Square, Patch 1.03 for Red Dead Redemption Remastered has rolled out, promising “general bug fixes, stability fixes and improvements”. The patch holds one secret new feature – 60FPS gameplay, but only when playing the PS4 version on a PS5 through backwards compatibility.

As Rockstar did not officially announce 60FPS support with the patch notes, it is unclear if this was supposed to make its way into the game yet, or if 60FPS gameplay will come to other platforms as well.

Red Dead Redemption Remastered launched earlier this year but only for PS4 and Switch. The game is still playable on Xbox Series X/S via backwards compatibility with the Xbox 360 version. A PC release is still non-existent.

KitGuru Says: Given how old Red Dead Redemption is, I wouldn't be surprised if 60FPS was viable on the Switch too. However, the real prize would be a PC version, as PC-only gamers have never had the opportunity to play the original game.
