Gamescom 2014 is well underway and Microsoft has kicked things off with its own presentation. At the event, Crystal Dynamics announced that its upcoming sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider reboot will be exclusive to the Xbox One console.
Rise of the Tomb Raider was first revealed at E3 earlier this year but as it turns out, since then the developer has struck a deal with Microsoft. The game will launch during the holiday season of 2015, here's a quick look at the E3 reveal trailer: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uvc4SDhiQmw']
Since this announcement was only just made on stage a few minutes ago, there aren't many details available to talk about just yet. It's unclear as to whether the game is a timed exclusive or will remain exclusive to the Xbox One forever.
Those who played last year's Tomb Raider on the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 or the later released definitive edition on the PS4 will likely be disappointed by this news. The reboot sold seven million copies world wide and was released to high praise and critical acclaim.
Update: Microsoft executives are indicating that the game will remain exclusive to Xbox.

KitGuru Says: I played the Tomb Raider reboot on the PC and I loved it. I'm actually pretty disappointed that the highly anticipated sequel might not come to other platforms. However, this might help Microsoft shift some Xbox One consoles next Christmas. What do you guys think of this? Are you disappointed?
End of the Tomb Raider Franchise then
This.
Looks like I just decided to buy XBox One 🙂
*time exclusive
Not very surprised about this. The recent reboot was prettier than it was anything substantial, and it was obvious that the franchise was heading in this direction. Meh. As a longstanding fan, I can’t say I’m that sad I won’t be able to play the new one(s), because I already don’t consider them canonical.
Won’t be playing this anytime in the near future then.
Crap… if its not EA destroying the gaming fun, then it is microsoft doing it instead/too … :'( Why the **** won’t they do a PC version?
its not worth one game, dude… its sad, but it really isn’t
Shame, I picked up the reboot during a recent Steam sale and really enjoyed it but there’s no way in hell, I’d buy inferior gaming hardware to play the next one.
Tomb raider has always been a franchise of the PC market. Its really sad that the Crystal team don´t seet it that way.
Instead of keeping up the good work of the last game with all the good technologies that are only supported by a decent gaming rig (I’m taking about TRESSFX) they decide to move their gamble to a crappy console, that have arrived in some countries with more than a year of delay (and in some still haven’t arrived….Portugal).
i can only say, that they are loosing the fan base that help TR achieve what it is today, and I won’t be giving them my hard earned money.
so in the update you say MS said it so does that mean Crystal Dynamics didnt say it if so then it cant be true at least i hope not can Crystal Dynamics really be that dumb cuz they would need to be paid like 5 bil at least if u ask me cuz that is about how much they would lose out on if not more if it was on xbone only 😛
We did it for GTA 5 (even though it was gonna happen anyways), we can do it for this. PC MASTER RACE SUPREME!
More collateral damage from the console wars
PC Arrogant Race, the only supreme is multi platform gamers..
Hello is this microsoft? Its square enix. We were looking for a quick way of getting rid of 69% of our overall sales… you have an idea? Grand!
In a way, I would have to agree with you. The only way to get the best experience possible in gaming is to play across multiple platforms, but this in no way would make you above other gamers. I was indeed joking about the “PC master race” as, although I play solely on PC, I do not consider myself above other gamers. What the majority of PC gamers feel towards console gamers is mainly annoyance. The fact is that consoles actually negatively affect the development of PC games. If a game is being made, it will mainly be focused on consoles, meaning it has to be developed to the graphics capabilities of the console, as well as the consoles control surface, often it is then ported to PC. This can lead to clunky controls and poor performance, Watch Dogs for example. This means that the majority of the games we play will technically have ‘outdated’ graphics. However, a game like Star Citizen. A game made for PC looks, feels and controls beautiful. The game has almost unlimited potential. You could argue that it’s not all about the graphics, and I agree completely. But the number of crappy PC ports is just frustrating, and I personally would not like to spend £300 on a console after I just spent £700 on my rig.
if u have played or dont own an xbox 1 how the hell can you stand there and criticize it i am ps/xbox fan and have been for years i cant criticize the ps4 as never have played it so think before you speak the xbox one is an awesome console for me but as i said thats my opinion
