Razer Nabu could release in October

A new report from DigiTimes is suggesting that we could see Razer's Nabu smartband release in October. The wearable gadget was first revealed at CES earlier this year, since then, the company has sent out prototype models to developers and 500 beta testers in order to perfect the product before its official launch.

The Nabu smartband was supposed to release in the first quarter of 2014. However, it was delayed at the end of May as Razer CEO, Min- Liang Tan stated that the company wanted to consult medical professionals to ensure that the device would not cause any skin irritations.

At E3, Razer showed off a slightly new design for the Nabu, featuring just one OLED screen instead of two. At the time, A Razer representative stated that the second screen was removed based on user feedback. Now the single screen will only activate when the wrist is turned.

The Razer Nabu will be compatible with the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c in addition to all Android devices running Jelly Bean 4.3 and upwards. The company is promising around five days of battery life on a single charge, a very important feature given that battery life will play a very important role in the success of wearable technology overall.

The smartband was released to developers for $49.99 so it's possible that the price will stay the same for the device's official release in October.

KitGuru Says: 30,000 developers supposedly signed up to test and create apps for the Nabu, so hopefully we will see it release with a ton of software support. What do you guys think of the Razer Nabu so far? I think it's an interesting concept but I'd really have to try one out to form a solid opinion.
