Intel Core i9-14900K trades blows with the Ryzen 9 7950X3D in leaked benchmark

An official slide depicting Intel's forthcoming Core i9-14900K CPU has been leaked ahead of the CPU's launch. The slide puts the upcoming i9 flagship against the AMD Ryzen 7950X3D, showing a small performance lead for Intel's new chip.

HXL posted the slide (in Chinese) that is embargoed until October 16th. That should be when Intel will announce its latest desktop CPUs, known as Raptor Lake Refresh or the 14th Generation Core series. The series will be led by a new 24-core flagship CPU, the Core i9-14900K.

The presentation compares gaming performance between the Core i9-14900K and AMD's top-tier Ryzen 9 7950X3D. Currently, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is one of the best gaming CPUs on the market, second only to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. According to Intel's data, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D surpasses the Core i9-14900K in at least 9 of the 25 games, whereas the Core i9-14900K outperforms it in 15. Of the 24 games tested, both CPUs performed the same only in one game (Company of Heroes 3). Averaging the scores, the Intel Core i9-14900K is 2% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, which is pretty much within the margin of error.

Considering both CPUs seem to perform pretty much the same, the pricing of the Core i9-14900K will be very important to make it stand out from its rival.
