HTC could be gearing up to release its own Samsung Galaxy Note 4 competitor in the form of a 5.5″ version of the HTC One M8 flagship smartphone. Rumored specifications are said to include a 2560×1440 display, 18MP rear facing camera and Android 4.4 KitKat rather than the swiftly approaching Android L.
This isn't the first time we've seen rumors of a HTC One M8 Max/Prime floating around. This time, Chinese site, MyDrivers, is behind the rumors, suggesting that the device will release before the end of this year. Powering the 5.5″ display will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 2.7 GHz CPU, 3GB of RAM and a 3000 mAh battery.
Aside from this, there has been no retail leaks, image leaks or benchmark results so this specific rumor might not be all that accurate. However, mobile companies haven't been great at keeping things under wraps in recent years. The HTC One M8 leaked entirely before it was officially announced.
Aside from being obvious competition to Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 4, the HTC One M8 Max would also be facing off against the iPhone 6 Plus.

KitGuru Says: The HTC One is one of the best Android devices currently on the market and has managed to nab some of Samsung's market share. Maybe releasing a phablet to help fight the Note 4 will pay off. What do you guys think? Would you rather buy a large HTC device compared to a large Samsung one?
