GTA V delayed for PC, hitting consoles in November

If you've been waiting for a version of GTA V that wasn't running on near-decade old hardware, then you're in luck, as before long the anarchy simulator is set to be released on the Xbox One and PS4, but the hotly anticipated PC version has unfortunately suffered delays and now won't be coming until next year.

The release dates, as announced by Rockstar today, pin the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game as hitting shelves and hard drives on the 18th November. The PC version however won't be reaching us until the 27th January 2015. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb1vOrm9SX4′]

To keep the tone of the announcement light, despite the push back for the PC iteration of the game, Rockstar also announced all the new stuff that we'll be getting with all of the new-gen versions:

  • New weapons, vehicles and activities
  • Additional wildlife
  • Denser traffic
  • A new foliage system
  • Enhanced damage and weather effects

On top of that, Rockstar is joining the contemporary video game giants of the world by offering a pre-order incentive in the form of digital cash. Pre-order the game on any platform now, and you'll receive a million dollars of GTA V money, half of which can be spent offline and the other half online.

Online mode itself is getting a bit of an overhaul, with Rockstar stating that the Xbox One and PS4 versions will have a maximum of 30 people on each server. No mention of the PC version's abilities online, so potentially it could be more. It should be really, considering Just Cause 2 multiplayer showed us we could have hundreds of players interacting online at once.

I'll give it to Rockstar though, the new-gen version is pretty

Players who have previously played on the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions will be able to transfer their characters to the new platforms, as well as gain access to exclusive content for their loyalty.

KitGuru Says: As much of a pain as the wait for the PC version is, you have to feel bad for people playing it on the last-gen systems. Their online mode STILL doesn't have heist missions.

  1. well at least Rockstar aren’t rushing GTA 5 out for the PC, hopefully now we’ll get a more optimised game than GTA 4 was & still is

  2. Rockstar kept deleting my posts on their site, so here are my 5 cents:
A: GTA V for Xbone and PS4 are ported from PC, so the seperate release dates are just a marketing tactic.
B: Us who’ve been “beta testing” GTA Online on Xbox 360 and PS3, should atleast get a discount for nextgen/PC. These “rewards” with 500k online and 500k singleplayer is just not enough. Other games has this, so why cant GTA? We’ve been promised heists, but this clearly have been delayed because of the nextgen/PC releases…

I was gonna buy the “refurbished” version of GTA V on PC, but now im thinking maybe ill buy it for PS4 or Xbone and then download the pirated version for PC.

  3. This was more agreement with Microsoft and Sony – during the holiday season they are gonna sell GTA V for Xbone and PS4, the consoles will sell too and when the season ends, they’re gonna release the version for PC.

  4. Wrong. Same stories, they want you to buy the console version

  5. Its all about the money…

  6. That’s what I mean – they want to squeeze the console market first. I was just looking for GPU with 3GB of RAM and now GTA V is delayed. Guess I’ll wait.

  7. At least giving me a chance to wait for some more higher end components, thanks for that, but otherwise SHAME on you doing this Rockstar!!! Now you better make sure you optimize it!

  8. and the only reason your post kept on getting deleted was because of your end comment “then download the pirated version for PC” no games developer/company would let you post that on there site, you got what you deserved.

  9. You know, I’m not mad. We live in a great age of so many great games to play. There will be so many games for me to play before I get my hands on GTA V, I wont sweat it.

Coming into 2015, the PC is on the rise again. There are many games that simply will be on the PC first.

  10. Probably true, but also his point stands, no excuses for a “delayed” release on PC, after the PC version has been ported over to ONE/PS4, this is after the PC community MADE them the company they are today.

Everyone I know will pirate this game on PC, as they’ve played the buggy turd on 360/ps3, and next gen console specs are a joke.

  11. 2nd hand r290s will be very cheap soon on a well known auction site!

  12. I have offers for R9 290 for 180 euro for reference board and 200 euros for Sapphire Tri-X. But I have an offer for Vapor X 7950 for 100 Euro and since I play at 1680×1050 I think 7950 is the right choice. Of course, Rockstar can f*ck up the port the way they made with GTA V and then maybe 7950 won’t be enough.

  13. I have to agree, there is no excuse for a “delayed” release on PC. Being it was such high demand Rockstar must be working there socks off. Yes it most probably is something to do with making money, but all companies even Rockstar Games need to make money or they will go out of business. I wouldn’t say the PC community “MADE” rockstar games and there different sub companies the company they are today. Grand theft auto: san andreas. Was one of the most sold games on the PS2 which is the most sold console to my knowledge (it might of changed).

However there are plenty of games from Rockstar that were only on console that were great. For example red dead redemption, or the midnight club series (other than midnight club 2) and Bully which was ported over, from console due to high demand and they obviously needed money, but is so much easier to play with a controller. Just makes it somewhat a console game but with better graphics, if that.

Everyone you know will pirate the game on PC, maybe because they don’t see a point in buying another version of it since they already have it on 360/ps3. Its just a shame that they won’t be able to play the online of the game, since they pirated it until a few good months after, cracks have got past Rockstar Social club etc.

I don’t really understand how you can say the next gen console specs are a joke if you mean just for the game, all PS4/ONE games are going to be that spec or lower, since that’s the spec that is in the console. If your talking about the console, it is all in one small box with hardly any airflow, its not liquid cooled or anything special, they get what they can in there and as technology updates PC will always be ahead but they’re trying.

  14. I think you’re right, and i’ve given it second thoughts, and i wish for everyone to buy GTA V for PC, and play GTA Online on PC. But im also really looking forward to see mods in GTA V!!!

  15. *Yes it most probably is something to do with making money, but all companies even Rockstar Games need to make money or they will go out of business*

They would make more sales if they released the game on the same date as consoles, no one will pirate it as much and wont feel the spite etc.

*I wouldn’t say the PC community “MADE” rockstar games and there different sub companies the company they are today*

GTA 1 sold far more on PC then on ps1, it picked up on ps1 about a year after PC gamers kept going on about it.

The PC gaming community insured that GTA would be a success for the future, and now we are the criminal scum of the internet world.

xboxone and ps4 are joke machines, my 2009 rig destroys them both and run games at better settings.
