Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are currently working together to bring a virtual reality version of the Batcave to VR headsets, such as the Oculus Rift. If you ever watched much of Batman: The Animated Series, then you'll already be familiar with the design, as the simulation will be modeled after the Batcave from the 90s cartoons.
A report from Variety described the Batcave as an “interactive narrative experience” where you'll be able to walk around Batman's secret lair. Visual effects company, Otoy, has been contracted to recreate the look and feel of the animated series in a 3D environment while the original series producer, Bruce Timm, has also been brought on board.
Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, said:
“We are continuously exploring new and exciting ways to tell stories and share experiences with audiences around the globe, and we’re excited to be working with Otoy on this cutting-edge adaptation from ‘Batman: The Animated Series.”
“More to the point: It’s super-cool, eye-popping stuff, and fans are going to love it. We can’t wait for them to have the chance to see the Batcave from the show again — for the very first time.”
We'll get our first look at the VR Batcave within the next few months via a release through flight simulation software, Orbx.
