Apparently Apple won’t be revealing a retina display Macbook Air this week

Apple has another event scheduled for later this week at which the company is expected to reveal new Macbook Pros, iPads, iMacs and Macbook Airs while also officially launching the next version of OS X. Unfortunately though, the often rumored and heavily sought after Macbook Air with Retina display won't be making an appearance at the event on Thursday.

According to an anonymous source speaking to Recode, the Macbook Air won't be getting a high resolution display this year, the closest thing set to appear will be the recently rumored 5K iMac. The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will be the main focus points of the event along with the official launch of OS X Yosemite, which will be another free OS upgrade for Mac users following Apple's pledge last year to no longer charge new Mac buyers for its first party software.

It is possible that the delay in Apple's new Macbook air largely comes down to the fact that Intel isn't ready to supply the company with Broadwell CPUs, which will deliver better power efficiency for longer battery life while using a high resolution display.

KitGuru Says: This will be good news to people who happened to buy a Macbook Air within the last month or two, you're new laptop won't be outdated just yet. However, hopefully Apple will update the display on the Macbook air in the future. It would also be nice to see the non-retina Macbook Pro dropped from the lineup, making SSD powered, high resolution Macbooks the new standard. Are any of you guys looking forward to Apple's iPad and Mac reveal this week? Are you planning on buying a new generation iMac, Mac Pro or Macbook?
