Price of Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan Z could drop to $1499

It looks like the price of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX Titan Z graphics card could drop not only at Overclockers.co.uk, but at other stores too. A U.S.-based store recently offered Nvidia’s dual-chip flagship graphics card for $1500, which represents a 50 per cent price drop.

Newegg, a leading online store from the U.S., has quietly dropped the price of Asustek’s GeForce GTX Titan Z from $3000 to $1499. At present the product is listed as sold-out and it is unclear whether it will be back and at a discount price. However, the fact that etailers started to drop price of the most expensive consumer-class graphics card ever seems to be rather important.

At the weekend Overclockers.co.uk offered the GeForce GTX Titan Z from Gigabyte Technology and Palit for £1499.

Keeping in mind that many enthusiasts these days buy Maxwell-based GeForce GTX 970 and 980 graphics cards, Kepler-based GeForce GTX 700-series as well as GeForce GTX Titan graphics boards are quickly losing popularity. Therefore, it is not really surprising that certain stores want to get rid of the previous-generation products.

Powered by two Nvidia GK110 GPUs in their full configuration with 2880 stream processors, 240 texture units and 48 raster operations pipelines, the GeForce GTX Titan Z 12GB is among the fastest graphics cards on the market today. Unfortunately, its recommended price of $3000 has kept gamers away from the solution.

The main rival of the GeForce GTX Titan Z is AMD’s dual-GPU Radeon R9 295X2, which costs $999 at the moment.

KitGuru Says: While at $1500 the GeForce GTX Titan Z can actually be a pretty viable solution, it should be noted that the amount of such graphics boards is pretty low. As a result, it is not easy to get such a graphics adapter, especially at $1500.
