Asus introduces 38-inch gaming monitor with 4K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate

It's not everyday we see a company introduce a 38-inch gaming monitor, but Asus just did. The new ROG Swift PG38UQ monitor is almost alone in its segment, offering a big enough screen area for those who want something bigger than 32 inches, but might feel that anything over 40 inches is too big.

The PG38UQ features a Fast IPS panel with a G2G response time of 1ms, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility. With a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and an HDMI 2.1 port, this monitor is “console ready” so gamers can play in 4K at 120Hz.

Notable specifications of the ROG Swift PG38UQ include a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, a colour depth of 8-bit, and a DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage of 98%. It offers a typical brightness level of 350 cd/m2 that peaks up to 600 cd/m2, meeting the VESA DisplayHDR 600 standard. Additionally, it incorporates features like “Ultra-Low Blue Light” to minimise eye strain and a “Flicker-Free” function that eliminates screen flickering.

In terms of connectivity, the ROG Swift PG38UQ provides multiple interface options, including a DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.1, an earphone jack, and 4x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports. It also includes two built-in speakers with a total output of 10W.

KitGuru says: Would you prefer a 38-inch monitor rather than a bigger screen? Or do you prefer smaller monitors for your desk?
