Epic offers 100% revenue share for developers bringing older titles to EGS

While Epic Games has been doing seemingly all it can in order to cement itself as a viable alternative to Steam on PC, Valve’s platform has had a good 15 years to build up a massive library of titles. In order to entice publishers to bring more of their back catalogue to the Epic Games Store, the Fortnite maker has now announced a new initiative.

Taking to their blog to make the announcement, Epic Games unveiled its brand new ‘Now on Epic’ initiative: “a new back catalog incentive program for developers and publishers to bring their previously released products to the Epic Games Store.”

Explaining how this program will work, they continued, “Now On Epic gives participants the opportunity to boost their net revenue from user spending on eligible products from 88% to 100% in their first six months on the store on all payments processed by Epic Games. After this initial six-month run, participating titles will continue to benefit from Epic’s industry-leading 88%/12% revenue split.”

As mentioned, the Epic Games Store is still relatively new, with the likes of Steam having over a decade worth of titles already available on the platform before the EGS even launched

As such, it makes sense for Epic to want to bring as much of that back catalogue to its own store as possible – and offering 100% of the revenue is certainly one way to do it. It'll be interesting to see whether this initiative pans out for Epic.
