Upcoming Ubisoft titles now removed from Steam world-wide

Yesterday it came to light that Ubisoft's upcoming holiday lineup of titles, including Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4 and The Crew, were all removed from Steam in the UK. At the time we thought that maybe Ubisoft had struck a deal with a UK high-street retailer however, the plot has since thickened and Ubisoft's upcoming titles are no longer available on Steam in any region.

Unfortunately for PC gamers, nobody seems to know what is going on. Ubisoft's official Twitter account responded to questions on the matter, stating that it is “looking in to it” and will provide more information on the matter once they have it. Valve on the other hand has also yet to provide any details.

All three Ubisoft titles were available just a day or two ago and now they are gone in Europe, Australia, the US and the UK. However, Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 are both available on EA's Origin service. Is it possible that Valve and Ubisoft had a dispute over pricing? Or maybe the two companies fell out over DLC policies, much like EA and Valve did.

Either way, we can only speculate for now and wait for either Ubisoft or Valve to respond. It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out.

KitGuru Says: It certainly seems like an odd move on Ubisoft's part to remove its three biggest titles from the biggest PC gaming platform right before Christmas. Then again, we still don't know if this was Ubisoft's choice or not. I would like to think that the publisher knows that many won't want to buy directly through uPlay and would much rather use Steam. What do you guys think is going on? Did Ubisoft abandon Steam? Did Valve kick them off the platform? Has money exchanged hands somewhere? We will of course update this story once official statements have been made.

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. 3. Ubisoft has joined the dark side with EA

  4. It certainly looks like Ubi took the EA route. I couldn’t care if uPlay is great or not and, quite frankly, Steam isn’t that wonderfully great either, but for the moment uPlay for me is the hassle I have to go through to launch my Never Settle Blood Dragon game. Same as Origin is the fugly orange icon I have to click to run EA stuff

  5. Ubisoft is really being Sh***y these days, their luck is that i still like Assassins Creed more than i get mad about this move and the 30 FPS cinematic crap 😛

  7. It makes sense. Uplay isn’t shit actually, most of you probably have issues because of windows 8/8.1.You have to set the exe manually to run as admin mode, since I did that I have had no hassle. The constant issues with people launching uplay through steam had issues of games not launching and this was the main reason.

I think I at least speak for a sizable minority when I say; We just want to be able to go to one place for everything. It is so much easier having everything under one roof. I love the fact I can compare prices between Ubi’s,EA’s and Steam’s platforms so that I can see how to get the best deal, but frankly, the best deals seem to come from websites that sell keys which are used through Steam anyway. I know there is a lot more to it but to be honest I just want to be able to delete Uplay and Origin and just have everything under Steam for the sake of convenience (especially now that I do not trust Origin after it deleted 2 of my games that they won’t give me the money back for even though it was their error).

  11. The fact that you have to do that in itself makes Uplay Shit.

Uplay isn’t shit? Pardon my French but are fucking you high?

The DLC button just plain doesn’t work, you ask it to display all the DLC available and then click buy and just get taken to the store front. Oh and let us not forget the wonderful search engine they have, try searching for The heroes 6 expac, Shades of Darkness on Ushit:

  17. Rather than bitch about it on the comments section of a post on kitguru, why dont you let Uplay devs know so they can fix it? People are so quick to criticize everything these days, never offer any solutions

  19. Are they capping it on PC? PC would destroy the shit out of that game. Wasn’t it Sony and Microsoft XBox development teams who wanted to games on PC capped at 30fps too? If that happens I will be modding the shit out of all these games to remove that cap.

  25. Uplay is horrible, i dont wanna be forced to use that lol.

  26. Ubisoft is worse than EA now

  27. Wow… Deliberatly and artifically reducing graphics settings on PC games, deliberately and artifically capping games at 30FPS and coming back on top saying it’s to preserve the “cinematic effect” while pushing their “parity across all platform” PR bullshit and now, this.

Frankly, Ubisoft can die. I don’t give a f*ck about any of their games anymore. They have crossed too many lines.

  29. The fact that I don’t, means it is a Uplay issue.

  30. I didn’t say Uplay was good, re-read my comment.

  31. The problem with that would be if they calculate Physics using your FPS as a stand-in for a proper timer.

  38. Well, if they force uPlay or Origin on us, this means goodbye to Ubisoft for me.. Never bought anything that only works on Origin and i never will. Steam is not perfect, but it was is around long enough and has nearly every game on it. If i buy a book i also would only want a book that fits into my already owned bookshelf and not being forced to take a bookshelf with the book, and then no other book fits into this shelf..its just plain stupid.

  39. Apparently I must not live on this world because Assassin’s Creed Unity is still on my steam store in the US!

  41. Guys, what was th epoint of having it on steam anyway? It was just gonna be a launcher for the uplay version with a key. Isnt that how it worked for the other ACs?

  50. It is a well known windows 8/8.1 issue, unless you set a global administrative setup which also works… usually people don’t know how to do that. 90% of the people I have told to run as admin reported back saying it all works now, over 100 people.

  51. It has got things working for most people I have helped with the issue in forums…. so kind regards

  52. The fact remains – it isn’t a Windows issue but a Uplay issue.
