Sea of Thieves Season 10 adds private PvE worlds and more

Sea of Thieves has quietly become one of Microsoft’s best Xbox console exclusives. Launching all the way back in 2018, the game saw a lukewarm response upon its initial release. 5 years and 10 Seasons later however, the team at Rare have added a whole bunch of long-requested features – now including private PvE worlds.

Detailing the update on their blog, the team at Rare said: “A sensational new Season has begun! Featuring the arrival of Guilds, a competitive twist on Voyages and a new mode for private play, there’s a lot to be excited about before you even get to the brand new Plunder Pass and Seasonal Renown rewards.”

With that, just some of the added features arriving with this update include:

  • Player-created guilds with added customisation
  • 24-player parties
  • You can now sail your friends’ ships even when offline
  • New guild upgrades
  • Improvements to hit detection for the pistol, blunderbuss and Eye of Reach
  • Better sword combat
  • Various quality-of-life improvements

The full list of changes and improvements can be found HERE, but for some by far the biggest update will be arriving in December, when the ‘Safer Seas’ game mode will go live – “enabling players to explore the Sea of Thieves without disruption from other crews.”

Sea of Thieves appears to be one example of a live-service game done right, with each successive Season bringing many requested improvements alongside additional features. It will be interesting to see what the game looks like another 5 years from now.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the Season 10 update? Will you hop in with the Safer Seas update? What game does the whole live-service thing best? Let us know your thoughts down below.
