Ubisoft's upcoming AAA titles Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4 and The Crew won't be available on Steam in the UK when they launch over the next few weeks. The reasoning for this isn't exactly clear, with Ubisoft simply stating that gamers in the UK will be able to buy the titles from shops and other online digital retailers.
It could be something to do with the pricing of the games, which have been raised beyond the usual to £49.99 on the uPlay store, though all of them will be available on Steam elsewhere around the world. Similarly other retailers in the UK have the games priced the same without a problem.
Past Assassin's aren't happy with their bargain prices, but do you see them complaining?
This is however still a much higher price than you usually see on Steam. At most, games are released with a £39.99 price tag, but it's only usually special editions or collections that reach beyond that.
When asked for comment by PCGamesN, Ubisoft responded: “We’ve been in discussions with Valve about Assassin’s Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the UK. In the meantime, UK customers wishing to purchase the game digitally can do so by visiting the Uplay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors.”
If it was indeed Ubisoft's decision to pull the game from Steam, rather than Valve banning it due to price (which seems unlikely) it is possible that the publisher has done a deal with a UK retailer like GAME, in order to not make it available on the main digital distribution platform in the world and therefore drive sales to the high street, but that seems like a risky move.

ubi can shove it, I haven’t really got into any of the assassins creed games since the end of the Ezio chapter and I preferred far cry 2 to 3, so why would I pay over the top when it could just be another sub-par sequel.I’d rather wait thanks.

Ubisoft are appearing to value themselves too highly and are in danger of pricing themselves out of the market , (killing the golden goose)
I agree with this sentiment although I wouldn’t condone piracy, but it’s hard to see an alternative when the very people who you give money to use it to extort more money from you and fail to place their titles in your favourite delivery platform. They simply cannot possible imagine that by trying to compete with Steam using their diabolical uPlay app will ever come to anything other than abject failure.
I think it’s time for EA to pass the crown for crappiest publisher over to Ubisoft.

You only have to look at Ubisofts track record, locking PC games to 30fps so that they don’t look better than the console versions. Then claiming that 30fps gives a more cinematic feel than 60fps as justification. Ubisoft fast becoming the laughing stock of publishing companies.
While I don’t condone piracy. It will have an effect if PC gamers can’t get access to the game, it is like releasing it in the US, two weeks before the EU. With globalisation and digital release there is no need for it now, and it just encourages piracy for people who want it on day 1.

It’s against Steam policy to use a vpn, and I’ve heard of instances where players got a ban for it. There would be no harm in trading someone else for the game though. You could go to /r/steamgameswap, for example.
Players can trade each other games on an international basis, and only rarely games get region locked (though russian games often do). I recently traded 5 TF2 keys for Evolve when it was available for cheap in Indonesia.

Well, that pretty much leaves me with the only option to Pirate the game, I would much rather purchase the game on Steam, but oh well.

Frankly, I wouldn’t even pirate it at this point. I’ve always wanted to play a French revolution AC, but Ubisoft are so far beyond anything I can even consider supporting that even playing the game for free is too much for me.
