OCUK jumps the gun on Black Friday deals

The worst thing about shopping on Black Friday is the fear of being trampled to death by an army of bargain hunters. Fortunately though, for us geeks, we can usually find all of the best deals online and avoid the drama. Overclockers UK has launched its own Black Friday sale, joining a growing list of UK retailers offering discounts ahead of the fateful day.

The sale kicked off this afternoon with a preliminary round of deals on graphics cards, monitors and peripherals. We won't recite the whole list here but there are some noteworthy highlights worth mentioning. From today, you can pick up an XFX AMD R9 295X2 dual GPU for just £479.99, which is a great price considering that they were going for around £1000 just a few months ago.

You can also find R9 290X cards for as low as £209.99 and Nvidia GTX 970s for as low as £240.

If you're in the market for a new monitor then there are some pretty good deals on 1440p and 4K panels. The popular Samsung U28D590 28″ 4K monitor is going for £359.99 while LG's 27MB85Z-B 27″ ColourPrime professional 1440 IPS monitor is £275, down from its usual £539.99 price point.

However, there will be more on offer tomorrow, including Nvidia's new Shield tablet Black Friday bundle, which includes a free controller and the Greenbox set of games (Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 Episode One and Portal). There will also be a massive component bundle, featuring an Intel Core i7 4790K and a GTX 780Ti so be on the lookout for that.
