Snapchat’s CEO isn’t too happy about the Sony email leaks

Snapchat's CEO, Evan Spiegel, has made his feelings about the Sony hack known after emails between him and Sony Pictures CEO, Michael Lynton, leaked, revealing future business plans and secret company acquisitions. The information contained in the leaked emails offered a good look at the startup's future ambitions and plans.

Sony Pictures CEO, Michael Lynton, sits on the Snapchat board of directors, which is why he was receiving business emails from Evan Spiegel.

In a memo sent to Snapchat employees on Wednesday morning, Spiegel said: “I felt like I was going to cry all morning, so I went on a walk and thought through a couple things”.

The app's roadmap was one of several notable bits of information to come out of the email leaks. Additionally, the company had acquired several companies, including one focusing on wearable technology similar to Google Glass and a QR code scanning company.

Further on in the CEO's memo to employees, he defended guarded the company's right to keep secrets from the public: “We keep secrets because we get to do our work free from judgement — until we're ready to share it. We keep secrets because keeping secrets gives you space to change your mind until you're really sure you're right.”

  1. Somebody please sue snapchat over the hundreds of thousands of leaked pictures.

  2. Are you retarded? They were leaked through the use of a third party app. Users should be intelligent enough to know the risks of using an unofficial app.
