Assassin’s Creed: Unity patch delayed- Ubisoft to ‘refurbish’ Paris map

Ubisoft ended up delaying Assassin's Creed: Unity's major performance fixing patch last night as the publisher has suddenly decided that “Rigorous quality control is of paramount importance”.  It seems that the development team wasn't quite hitting the performance target it was hoping for with the new patch and is now in the process of ‘refurbishing' the Paris map.

We don't know exactly what the developer means by refurbishing the map but hopefully it won't cause any more problems. In a blog post, Ubisoft wrote that: “Rigorous quality control is of paramount importance to us, and your feedback over these past weeks has indicated that it is important to you as well”.

That's some mighty fine quality control you have there, Ubisoft.

The live blog update then goes on to say that: “We are committed to delivering major performance improvements, which requires that we refurbish the Paris map and that will take a few more days to hit the high level of quality our players deserve.”

Hopefully the massive backlash Ubisoft has received this year will be a wake up call- the company needs to treat its games better, it needs to treat gamers better and it needs to start listening to feedback and making changes.

KitGuru Says: Ubisoft needs to look back at this year and make some serious changes. It will take some effort, but hopefully the company is willing to take on feedback and earn back a decent reputation. Do you guys think Ubisoft could turn things around next year? Will it take longer for gamers to trust the company again?

KitGuru Games: Omni-movement culminates 30 years of FPS innovation

Black Ops 6 is officially here, bringing the innovative new Omni-movement system to the game. While on the surface a relatively simple change, I argue that Treyarch intimately studied DOOM and the past 30 years of first-person shooter evolution to craft one of the most satisfying gameplay systems yet.

  1. “We are committed to delivering major performance improvements, which
requires that we refurbish the Paris map and that will take a few more
days to hit the high level of quality our players deserve” – Sounds like a downgrade already

  2. The one major big issues is the sync problems with the Companion App and ACInitiates, but I guess they won’t bother with them if they are focussing on graphical issues.

  3. Indeed, looks like it.
I wonder if they will use an option to choose which version to play with (downgraded visuals with higher framerate or the opposite). I think it is forbidden by the platform holder to include such an option in third party titles (since it implies the platform is not powerfull enough)

  4. “Rigorous quality control is of paramount importance to us” I lol’d a little too much

  5. They should have delayed the entire game instead.
