Final Fantasy 14 Xbox beta coming in January

Earlier this summer, Square Enix officially announced plans to bring Final Fantasy 14 to Xbox, with plans for an open beta test ahead of launch in 2024. Now, we have more details, with the beta taking place in January.

The Xbox version of Final Fantasy 14 will include all available content, cross-play with other platforms and day-one access to the upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. Much like the PS5 version, the Xbox Series X/S version of the game will also benefit from performance and 4K resolution modes, as well as faster loading times thanks to the SSD.

The open beta for Final Fantasy 14 on Xbox will be taking place from mid-January until early February, giving players a couple of weeks to test out the game ahead of its final launch. The full game is due to release in Spring 2024, followed by a new expansion later in the year.

There's no word on any special offers that might be put in place for the Xbox launch. A bundle containing all of the expansions and a month of subscription time would be a good start, as the MMO is about to open up to a whole new market with little or no prior experience with the game.

KitGuru Says: At this point, Final Fantasy 14 is the go-to MMO for a lot of people. Now, Xbox players will get to jump in for the first time – and there will be a good chunk of the year left to catch up on content ahead of the next expansion.
