The AMD Ryzen 7045HX series (aka Dragon Range) is a CPU family that blends desktop and mobile characteristics, using Raphael chips in a mobile package. These CPUs bring up to 16 Zen4 cores to gaming laptops, providing a considerable increase in multi-threading performance over the previous generation. Contrary to the 45W TDP of the mainstream series, the HX line has a TDP of 55W.
The flagship here is the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, which has 64MB of 3D V-Cache for a total of 128MB of L3 cache. Despite its incredible capabilities, the distribution of this CPU has been confined to specific devices. However, AMD seems to have a few more high-core-count Dragon Range CPUs in its plans, which might considerably increase the number of devices using Ryzen 7000HX CPUs.
According to Golden Pig Upgrade (via VideoCardz), AMD is planning to release two new SKUs: the 16-core Ryzen 9 7940HX and the 12-core Ryzen 9 7840HX. Both are expected to have lower clock speeds than the current 7945HX and 7845HX variants, but the TDP, the R610M iGPU with 2 CUs, and the amount of cache should remain the same.
According to the source, the use of the Ryzen 7000 branding signals that these goods will be released in 2023, but without AMD's confirmation, this is just a guess.
KitGuru says: Assuming AMD will release these two new mobile HX SKUs, do you think laptop manufacturers will launch more systems equipped with AMD Ryzen 7000HX chips?
