ASUS has announced it's new ZenFone 2 today at CES, a year after the release of the last ZenFone at CES 2014. While it has been refined in every aspect from previous ZenFone models what makes it slightly different than most Android phones is what's inside.
The CPU in this case is not made by Qualcomm or Nvidia, but Intel. While Intel has previously tried to compete with Qualcomm and Nvidia for the smartphone processor market it has met with limited success. With the 2.3 GHz 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 in the ZenFone 2 that could change. This processor is also being used in the upcoming Nokia N1 tablet but this is the first phone to feature this CPU.
The ZenFone also features a massive 4Gb of RAM and what ASUS claims is the fastest responding touch screen with a 60ms turnaround. This is rounded out by a 13MP rear camera and a full HD 5.5 inch IPS screen running Android 5.0. For a full breakdown of all of the features ASUS have included take a look though this video below. It certainly seems like ASUS has put a lot of time and effort into every feature of the ZenFone 2 and the hardware is definitely powerful enough to keep up. All being well it should be available in March for for $199 in the US with international dates and prices to follow.

KitGuru Says: The Atom Z3580 at the core of this phone definitely sounds pretty powerful and while the Zenphone 2 may not have the most innovative design it could be a great phone for mobile gamers or anyone who needs an Android powerhouse phone!

This actually sounds like a really decent phone….
How about the battery life?
5.5″ screen, I just about manage with my 5″ screen, I’d say it’s just too big. But apart from that, it has all the necessary ingredients to be a great phone – would also like to see it available with Windows OS too.
LG G3 copy xD
nothing that the Note 3 didn’t have in 2013…
No mention of 4G support
http://www.asus.com/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/ Phone specs have 4G support on it
64bit CPU and 4GB of ram? Naaaah
We’re not really that sure it would be only 200$. The phone available for 200$ will have other specs like a intel atom z3560 quad core which should be exactly the same as the z3580 but it’s core clock frequency is 1.8ghz (to clarify z3560 has 1.8ghz and the z3580 has 2.3ghz, other than the clock speed, the two should be identical, of course the z3580 would have slightly better performance) and instead of 4gb of ram, the 200$ variant would have only two. Those are just some rumors, they have yet to give us a price. Even so, the high-end variant shouldn’t be all that more expensive than the 200$ one since it’ll be just the same phone with only those specs changed, so around 250~300$ or even 350$, still seems a pretty good deal. Like i said, this isn’t certain information, so if i got anything wrong, spare me.
