GTA V PC delayed until the 24th of March, PC requirements released

Those of you who have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto V on the PC will have to wait even longer as Rockstar has confirmed that it is delaying the PC version once again, this time until the 24th of March. There were rumors of a delay circulating earlier this month but the gaming press were keen to squash those out after a customer service representative said that “no delay has been announced at this time”.

Rockstar wrote on its site: “Our apologies for the slight shift in the date but the game requires a few extra weeks of testing and polish to make it as good as can be. Moving a release date is never a decision we take lightly and is a choice we make only when we know it is in the best interests of the game and our fans. Thanks everyone for your understanding and we assure you these few extra weeks will be worth it when the game does arrive in March.”

GTA V in 4K is shaping up nicely.

While the delay is bad news, especially for the PC gamers who had held out this long, the system requirements have been released and they are surprisingly low.

Minimum specifications include an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 4GB of RAM and an Nvidia 9800GT/ AMD HD 4870 graphics card.

Those looking to crank up the settings a bit will need an Intel Core i5 3470/AMD FX-8350 CPU, 8GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD HD 7870 graphics card. The game will be taking up a hefty 65GB of hard drive space as well.

KitGuru Says: What can we learn from this? Customer service representatives don't tend to reveal important company plans before an announcement is made. The delay is now official, lets just hope there isn't another one. Have any of you guys been holding out for GTA V on PC for this long? Have any of you given up waiting?

  1. I am past the point of caring now, Rockstar pissed me off when they didn’t release it at the same time as console.

  2. Pissed off when Rockstar release un-optimised game.
Pissed off when Rockstar delays game to optimise it.
Poor Rockstar can’t catch a break

  3. They need to stop sucking the medias dick and just release it already. They just reconfirmed 27th like a week or two ago..

  4. “Slight shift in the date”? I think everyone’s past the point of caring, so much so that if they do end up releasing it, everyone who was going to buy it either won’t buy it, or will probably torrent it as compensation for the amount of time they spent waiting for it.

  5. I don’t believe rockstar anymore about release date’s.. I dont care anymore and I won’t buy this game.

That’s not the point. Anyone can wait for optimisations, it’s what we love, but developers need to stop guessing release dates because no one likes to see it being pushed back again and again and again; its a hype killer

  7. Charles Charalambous

Their words were no delay to announce at this time. I kind of saw this coming. Especially since today was the print deadline for physical copies if it was the reach the shops for the orignal release.

  8. What an amazing coincidence. They have to delay the PC release again, just as the console release has a boom is sales. Its almost as if they don’t want people to buy it on a platform they inevitably get less money from.

  9. Past caring now, wont buy anymore. Completed it on Xbox 360 15 months ago im not waiting another 3 months

  10. Except we don’t actually know if they’re making a good port or if they’re filthy fucking liars and we’re going to get the worst PC port of all time.

  11. Would you rather it come out and be like AC Unity was. and took a few months to fix or have a nice polished game that is playable upon release!!!!

  12. Gary 'Gazza' Keen

Well the dev team they gave the PC port to have been quite a popular one with a decent enough history. But with minimum specs like that they’ve either done an amazing job or they’ve dumbed it the hell down. 4K gameplay is a big selling point for the PC version though so I’m going to put a little bit of faith into it. 2 months though…

rockstar are still advertising for playtesters here in scotland…..

  14. What’s GTA V?

  15. They need to make games resolution specific, and download the textures or have a separate disk. 64gb, dang, I dont have a 4k display, but I should, killin me.

  16. Would much rather more delays than having a broken game released. Good on rockstar for not releasing early to please the crowds.

  17. 65Gb ! I think i’ll need to wait for SSHD drives to get a bit bigger…..then save up for one of them first.

  18. Wow! These requirements are pretty good. If 7870 and i5 3470 are the requirements for High and FullHD, then the job is well done.

  19. I play enough Indie games that I wouldn’t mind if they just released it in a mostly-working state and continued patching over time. The hype has already died a lot, pushing it back even further is really not helping.

  20. Dont even bother i won’t buy it anyway,so much delay means something ain’t right and is too dificult to resolve…

  21. Ugh…Silence never ends well

AMD silence with Desktop Carrizo = No Desktop Carrizo and now GTA V. Witcher 3 is delayed, although they are always releasing some sort of content.

I’ll still be buying one copy for the online aspect but may wait till it goes on sale. If I do wait for price to drop I’ll torrent the game and play the single player option while waiting.

  22. If they are delaying the game so many times it’s because it has something seriously wrong with the game, because a finishing touch doesn’t take that long.

  23. the last time rockstar took this long to “optimize” a game the game launched and still was bugged as shit, so your argument is invalid

  24. AC Unity didn’t release on Last Gens then sit around for a year to be confirmed for Next Gens and PC then be teased to the people with a release date, and when it almost released it moved back because 14 months wasn’t enough to fix all of the bugs it didn’t know it had until 2 weeks before release.

  25. Normal HDD’s work just fine you know. No reason to be an Elitist douche. Just buy 3 WD Blacks and Raid 0 them if they’re so slow you won’t use them.

  26. I’d still rather see games delayed for extra work rather than come out early and be crap. At least if it comes out late and is shit the company knows it fucked up for sure.

Naming Rome 2, Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed Unity, Aliens: Colonial Marines as examples.

  27. With reqs that low, there’s no reason the game should have been delayed this long, unless it’s coming with some serious optimization and a surprise or two.

I doubt it though. Look at GTA IV.

  28. March will be a year and a half since the initial release. If a team of professionals can’t get a PC version in that amount of time, then they aren’t “professionals”.

Either Rockstar has something in store, or they’ve screwed things up.

  29. James Stephen Edge

Well it looks to be a good port as the screenshot looks better than Unreal Tournament 2003, which would make this the first Rockstar game ever to do so lol.

  30. It says something about a company when they can’t even adhere to their own delay dates. What a fucking joke.

  31. I would rather it be pushed back then rushed out…

With soo many new games ever week ect on steam I have a super back log anyways… So in all fairness Im in no hurry in wanting any new games…. its nice to see they were willing to push it back over and over again till it its actually ready…

I wish more devs would do this.. Im look at you activation and EA

  32. my dedicated video card is 64 mb will it works on my computer

  33. Who you calling a elitist douche ? If I were an elitist douche I’d have said I’d raid some top end SSD’s ! and 3 WD blacks cost more than a single SSHD fyi.

  34. Been waiting so long for this, and another delay. I just hope to god the price reflects the massive delay for pc gamers as frankly if they still try charging full price after all the delays, its going to piss a lot of gamers off. As for a 65gb game, i guess that means it will be shipped on blu ray disks then :/

  35. and yet they ‘dont care’ enough to regularly post about how much they ‘dont care’…

  36. All I’m going to say is Cough GTA4 Cough

  37. You just proved my point.

  38. Just make and release it at the same time as f**king consoles!

Such blatant manipulation and corruption of the market and all these publishers are getting away with it.

  39. Maybe it can do 4K because it is dumbed down?
No work into PC tech such as AA, 3D and after effects. But unlike recent ports who couldn’t use 80% of the PC’s power, a work around to push as many pixels as the PC can.

  40. No, You need atleast 1GB-2GB dedicated VRAM.

  41. Can’t tell if troll…

  42. Wow, these low of requirements? Even old shitty Alienwares would probably be able to run this.

  43. I dunno… i always had a feeling the PC release would be closer to the next-gen ones…. Fuck it… it’s only a little longer, plenty more to play.
